Mary Ellen Omans Wells, 96, Springfield, MO, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 2:25 PM, Monday, June 9, 2014 in Mercy Villa, Springfield, MO. Mrs. Wells was born April 13, 1918 in Kansas City, MO to the late Jesse James and Lena Adelia Somerville Omans. She married Richard Ford Wells on March 17, 1941 in Springfield, MO. She graduated from Springfield Senior High School in 1936 then later from Draughans Business School in Springfield and attended Springfield Teachers College. She was a homemaker most of her life though in her early years had worked for her father in the automobile business; then, many years later, became involved in the real estate investment field. She was an 80 year member of Grace United Methodist Church in Springfield. Mrs. Wells is survived by a son Roger and his wife Jean Wells; and one grandchild, Scott Wells, all of Springfield, MO. A graveside service is planned in Maple Park Cemetery, Springfield, MO at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 13, 2014 under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, with Pastor Doug Shivers officiating.
