Mary Jane Sponenberg of Springfield, Missouri was surrounded by her family when she passed on Tuesday, July 12th.

Mary Jane was the daughter or R.L. and Mary Thompson and was born in Enid, Oklahoma on December 26, 1942.  Her family moved to Derby, Kansas where she went to High School and met the man that she would spend the rest of her life with her husband of 61 years Don Sponenberg.

After Don completed residency for pediatrics in Kansas City, Missouri, they moved to Springfield with their daughter Connie and completed their family with the birth of their son Steven.  Mary Jane loved being a mother and was devoted to her family. You could find her at all the activities her children were in and was usually the loudest person in the stands.  The devotion to her family continued with her grandchildren and being active in their lives.  She was also a dedicated dog mom and spoiled many furry children throughout her life.

She is survived by her husband Don Sponenberg, her daughter Connie Myers, her son Steven Sponenberg and his wife Meghan, her grandchildren Justin and Haley Myers and Chase and Julia Jane Sponenberg.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 18, 2022, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
