Mary Marie Shockley was born to Ed and Ada Wright in Clinton, Missouri, July 28, 1917, she peacefully journeyed home surrounded by family on September 24, 2010. Mary was united in marriage to Douglas Shockley, Sr. They later moved to Springfield in 1947 of this union 5 children was born. Mary was a longtime member of the Queenette Temple #1146 IBPOE of W from which she served Dtr. Ruler, Loyal Asst Dtr. Ruler for Josephine Martin Council, Past Grand Dtr. Ruler, P.S.P, State 2nd Vice Pres., & later honored as a Grand District Deputy. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and President of the 5-6 club. Mary enjoyed helping others in any way she could. She owned her own daycare and later became a foster parent. She was a longtime member of Deliverance Temple, were she had a special service for her family. She enjoyed being with family and friends, loved shopping and playing bingo. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ed & Ada; her husband Douglas, Sr.; three sons, Douglas Jr, Larry, Bobby; six sisters; and two brothers. Mary leaves to mourn her loving daughters, Gloria Fewell, Joyce Adams (Milt), Mary Brown; sons Richard Allen (Deb), Joe Jackson (Michelle); 31 grandkids; 137 great-grandkids; 43 great-great grandkids, and 2 great-great-great grandkids; her daughters-in-law; and a host of relatives and friends. Mary known as Mother, Mur, Momma, Nother Momma, Nanny, Nan, Grandma, Grandmother, Hattie, Aunt Nanny and Shock will be missed but always loved and remembered.
