IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Jane
Pryor
August 2, 1955 – December 7, 2022
Mary Jane Pryor ("Janie") passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.
Janie was the second born child to Charles and Dorothy Pryor on Tuesday, August 2, 1955 Fort Kobbe, Canal Zone while her father was stationed in there while serving in the U.S. Army.
The most popular baby name for August 2,1955 was Mary with 63,162 baby girls being given that name on that date. Perhaps this why at a young age Mary was nicknamed "Janie" which is what her closest family and friends knew her by.
Janie will be greatly missed by her family, many friends and the caring staff that has worked with her over the past several years. Janie was a resident at Springfield Villa where she received great care during her final days on this earth.
Janie would light up any room that she entered with her bright smile and spunky larger than life personality. It would not take long to bond with Janie and create a lifelong friendship with her. She enjoyed crafting, watching tv, and looking through photos while visiting with her family. Janie worked at the Developmental Center of the Ozarks, and taught sign language to students at Hillcrest High School over the years in addition to other jobs she worked throughout the years.
Janie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior as a young lady and loved attending services where sign language assistance was offered. Her family finds great peace in knowing she has been reunited with her loving parents and sister.
Janie is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Dorothy Pryor, her sister Nancy K. Schmitt (Pryor), and three nephews. Surviving family members include her sister Patricia Kates (Pryor), and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 11:00 am at Springfield National Cemetery under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
