Obituary

Mary Elizabeth (Morehouse) Picotte passed away Monday, January 2, 2017, at the age of 95 at Mercy Villa Rehabilitation Center. She was born June 29, 1921 to Roscoe F. and Maude (Melton) Morehouse at Burge Hospital in Springfield, MO. She met Robert Picotte while working at the Frisco Railroad and they were wed in 1946. They both worked for the railroad for many years. After raising her children, Mary worked as secretary to Attorney/Judge Glenn Burkart. In her later years, Mary enjoyed painting and gave many of her paintings to her family. Mary truly enjoyed living in the Rountree neighborhood.

She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her son, Brett Picotte and wife Marriann, Willard; her daughter, Jeanne Irwin and husband Steve, Strafford; and her grandchildren, Matt Irwin, Marshfield; Laura (Noah) Snelson, Springfield; Mark Irwin (fiancé Meghan Webber), Springfield; and Michael Irwin, Strafford. Mary was also very proud of her great-grandsons, Braxton and Hudson Snelson.

A visitation will be held Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2017 in Hazelwood Cemetery.
