Obituary

Mary Joyce King Bradley Northcutt, a long time resident of Springfield Mo. was born in Phillipsburg Mo. on November 24th, 1933 to the late James H. and Jewell King, the youngest of 3 children(Harold, Pauline, Mary Joyce). Mary passed away on July 7th, at 10:46 a.m. at Mercy Hospital.

She became a member of the Church of Christ at the age of 13 and was a member of the Mission Hills Church of Christ, and she continued faithfully until her passing. Her young years she helped her folks in the James H. King Grocery Store near Long Lane Mo. She went to Gannon, Phillipsburg Grade and Junior High's then Graduated from Buffalo High in 1951. She was queen of her Freshman Class in Phillipsburg and President of her Junior Class at Buffalo High.

She married her High School sweetheart Leland Bradley in 1951 and became a homemaker, then in 1963 they adopted a baby girl, Kimberly Ann Bradley. In 1971 that marriage ended in divorce, so Mary went to work for Montgomery Ward at the mall and became the Cosmetic Manager. In 1975 she found a new love of her life, Howard Northcutt. They were married on January 4th, 1976 and were together for 30 years.

Howard moved Mary and Kim to Buffalo as he owned Northcutt Ford, Mary became his secretary and bookkeeper and Kim was the errand girl for the Parts Department. Howard sold the dealership in 1980 and they moved back to Springfield to take care of Mary's mother until her passing in 2000. Then they got into the Antique Business and owned and operated Northcutt Glass and Treasures until Howard's death in 2006.

Mary loved to work and was always busy and very independent. She loved to sell and enjoyed visiting with her friends and customers. She enjoyed working in her yard and was successful at most everything she tried.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James H. and Jewell King, her brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Mary King, her sister and brother-in-law, Glendon and Pauline Mizer, her husband, Howard Northcutt, and precious friends.

She is survived by her daughter Kimberly Ann Bradley, her niece Robin (Dan) and family; nephews, Jeff and family, David (Lynne) and family as well as a host of precious friends, cousins, neighbors and her church family.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 11:00 am at Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hazelwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday, July 12, 2022 from 6-8:00 pm in the funeral home.
