Mary Margaret Williams, 81, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on March 18, 2023 in Columbia, Missouri of complications from a stroke.Visitation with an open casket will be held from 11:00-11:45 a.m. Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Brentwood Christian Church with a service to begin at 12:00 p.m. with The Rev. Emily Bowen-Marler and The Rev. Dr. Phil Snider of the Brentwood Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow at Hazelwood Cemetery. Arrangements are by Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.Mary was born in Fulton, Missouri to Le' Anna and Virgil Humphrey on November 21, 1941. She married Almon Monroe Williams on June 13, 1964 in Columbia, Missouri. She graduated from Mokane High School. She worked as a teacher's aid for visually and Physical and Mentally impared children for Pershing Elementary school for several years. She was involved as a leader for Bluebirds, Campfire Girls and served as a president for the PTA. She also taught Sunday School for the two and three year olds at Southland Christian Church. She is a devoted member of the Brentwood Christian Church.Mary is preceded in death by her husband Almon Monroe Williams, her parents Le' Anna and Virgil Humphrey, her brothers Joe and Bruce, her sister-in-law Mary Jane Juffer, her niece Melissa McDonald, her nephews Charles McDonald and Leonard Long and her life long friend Iris Bradley.Mary is survived by her children Marla Edgar, Karen Hale, Dr. W. Frank Williams, M.D., her grandchildren Blaine, Nathan and Zachary Hale, her sisters Betty McDonald and Nancy Petty and her brothers Jim Humphrey, Tommy Humphrey, John Humphrey and several nieces and nephews and her life long friend Darin Link.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Springfield Workshop Foundation.
