Mary Jane Johnson Sechler, daughter of the late Henry Edgar and Bessie (Willett) Coleman, was born March 25, 1928 in Van Buren, Missouri and departed this life on March 21, 2013 in St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She had attained the age eighty-four, eleven months and twenty-seven days. Mary Jane had resided in Springfield, Missouri for several years and was formerly of Van Buren, Missouri, where for many years she was secretary for Judge C. P. Turley and Carter County School Superintendent J. S. Allen. In 1959 she and her husband Owen Johnson were instrumental in planning and implementing the Carter County Centennial and together they served as Carter County Collector. She enjoyed camping and fishing on Current River. As an accomplished organist she and her sister, Flossie shared their musical talents on numerous occasions. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Van Buren. On April 19, 1956 she was married to Owen Johnson in Van Buren, who preceded her in death on February 12, 2002. Mary Jane was blessed to find "the second love of her life," Bill Sechler and they were married on June 20, 2008. She is survived by her husband, Bill Sechler of Springfield; two siblings, Flossie Burrows and Charles Coleman both of Van Buren; step-children, Kathy Sechler and Mark Sechler of Springfield and Karen and Ron Cook of Naples, Florida; she is also survived by many nieces and nephews who she considered "her children" and she was their Aunt Jane". A visitation will be held from 3:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2013 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. A second visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2013 in McSpadden Funeral Home in Van Buren Missouri with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. and burial following in the Van Buren City Cemetery. Rev. Ron Robinson will officiate.
