Mary Ann Jirik, 75, of Springfield, Mo., passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2009, in her home following a long illness. She was born March 24, 1933, in Verona, Mo., to Albert and Flora Pfitzner Schmidt. Mary Ann lived in the Verona and Monett area until moving to Springfield in 1996. She married LeRoy Jirik on January 30, 1954, and he survives. She worked at First National Bank and Wells Aluminum in Monett, Mo. After moving to Springfield she worked part-time in banking. She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Oddo and husband, Ed of Exeter, N.H., Marilyn Fare and husband, Steve of Willard, Mo., and Donna Jirik of Springfield, Mo.; and one special grandson, Caleb Fare of Willard, Mo. She is also survived by a sister, Marguerite Butterworth and husband, Bill of Monett, Mo.; four brothers, Andrew Schmidt of Ark., Carl Schmidt and wife, Jackie of Rogersville, Mo., Leo Schmidt and wife, Janice, and Ralph Schmidt and wife, Jeannie of Monett, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Joyce Tinklepaugh of Monett, Mo.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary Ann was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Schmidt; her parents; and a niece. Rosary services will be held in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, located at 1947 E. Seminole, in Springfield, Mo., on Sunday, March 15, 2009, at 3 p.m., with visitation to follow. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, March 16, 2009, at 10:30 a.m., in St. Agnes Cathedral, 533 S. Jefferson, in Springfield, with Reverend Michael McDevitt celebrant. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Springfield, Mo. Special thanks to my loving family.
