Mary K. Howard, 74, of Springfield, passed away January 11, 2014 at her home. She was born to James Robert and Audrey Lou Phillips in Springfield and attended Central High School. She worked as a secretary for several local businesses including Springfield Public Schools, and City Utilities. Mary had a lifelong interest in her collections of various things, and a special place in her heart for her cats. Mary mostly enjoyed spending time with her husband of over 50 years, in particular when attending games as Drury Panther basketball boosters. She was an active member of Central Christian Church. She is survived by her husband Ed Howard, son John, daughter-in-law Teri, grandson Ethan, and granddaughter Jasmine. A graveside memorial service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Republic, Missouri, on Monday, January 20, at 10:30 AM. The family invites attendees to Central Christian Church following the service, to share lunch while visiting and remembering Mary.
