Mary Irene Dunne, 87, of Springfield, passed away on Jan. 20, 2016 at Cox South Hospital.

The daughter of Joseph and Bertha Gauzy, Mary was the second of five children and graduated from Sullivan High School. She moved to Springfield in 1988, and was very active in the community. She worked several years for the City of Springfield. She was involved in the Immaculate Conception Church, Women's Council, and was a board member for the Starlight Debonairs. She loved ballroom dancing and was a square dancer for 43 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Wilbert Gauzy.

Mary is survived by her brothers Jerry and Jimmy Gauzy, sister, Thelma Hornaday, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016 at 10 am at Immaculate Conception. A rosary will be held on Friday at 6 pm with visitation following until 8 pm at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
