Mary Evelyn DeWeese, 85 of Springfield, MO. passed away in the early hours of September 22nd surrounded by family.
She was born in Brunswick, MO. February 23, 1932 to Clarence and Alice Strub lovingly known as Bo Bo daddy and Bo Bo mamma.
In her high school years she worked as a soda jerk at her father's "Uptown" drugstore, and after graduating high school she moved to Kansas City to work at Kansas City power and light. Mary married John DeWeese June 4, 1954 and was a loving devoted wife of 63 years. After her first child she remained home as a homemaker to raise the children. She loved playing golf, doing puzzles and playing weekend ping-pong tournaments with the neighbors, but most of all she loved playing video games with her grandchildren, and was quite good at it.
She is preceded in death by a son Greg DeWeese.
She is survived by her husband John DeWeese of the home her daughters Greta Detherage, and husband Randy, Gretchen Hawkins, and husband Phil, and sons Geff DeWeese, and wife Joyce and Glen DeWeese, all of which live around the Springfield area. She is also survived by her grandsons Justin and Jared DeWeese, Christopher Nicodemus, Spencer Hawkins, John DeWeese and granddaughter Erin DeWeese with four great grandchildren and many loved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home on Monday, September 25 with prayer service from 6-7p.m. and visitation from 7-8 p.m.
Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 26 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 1 p.m.
