Obituary

Mary Jane McGregor Derringer, of Springfield, Missouri, died peacefully of natural causes on June 20, 2010. She was born May 19, 1914, in Springfield. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Verdon LeVerne Derringer. Mary is succeeded by her daughter, Katherine Ann Derringer Grave, of Merced, California; her son, David Brian Derringer, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; three grandchildren, Byron Scott Derringer, of Bethesda, Maryland, Elaine Grave Elliott, of Chester, California, and Michael David Grave, of San Diego, California; and one great-grandchild, Caroline Derringer, of Bethesda, Maryland. She is also succeeded by her sister, Jackie Arnsmeyer, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Dorothy Dawe, of Austin, Texas. Mary was very involved for many years in the First Presbyterian Church, the National Storytellers League, and the Pan American Round Table while living in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Mary returned to her hometown of Springfield in the Fall of 2005. She will be laid to rest next to her husband and parents in Hazelwood Cemetery at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2010, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, in the funeral home.
