Obituary

Mary Ann D'Arpino, 65, of Springfield, MO passed away at 5:19 PM on July 5 th , 2021 in the ICU unit of Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. She passed away from brain damage caused from underlying COPD complications suffered on July 3 rd , 2021.

Mary Ann was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 30 th , 1955. She met her husband Mark, in Winter Haven FL while on vacation. Mark picked her up hitchhiking on the side of the highway. Their story of how they met almost seemed to be made up it was so unique.

She was a loving mother, wife, sister, and grandparent. Her love of her family is what is most remembered about Mary Ann. She took care of her mother, Mary Carlisi, day in day out for the last two years of her life, having her mother live with her. She was able to do this despite the pandemic going on, she loved her mother and took care for her in such a special and dedicated manner despite her mother suffering from dementia.  Before retiring to take care of her mother, many knew Mary Ann as a big part of D'Arpino's Italian Café, in Springfield, MO. They had 14 years at the restaurant, bringing to life her husband's Mark's dream. She impacted many lives through that tiny kitchen, many will miss her warmth, feistiness, and dedication she brought to the restaurant day in and day out for all 14 years.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her father, Settimo "Steve" Carlisi; mother, Mary Carlisi; and her sister, Suzy Kohler. Her mother Mary passed away just two weeks before Mary Ann did.

Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband Mark; and her two children, Steve D'Arpino and  Jessica Walker, and their spouses Cassie D'Arpino  and Jesse Walker . She leaves behind her two older sisters, Barbara Burgett, and Linda Raetzel. She also leaves her grandchildren, Ethan 16, and Carly Walker, 12, and Gabe Walker 21.
