Mary Susan Clayton was born September 7, 1951 to Raymond and Dorothy Clayton in Springfield, Missouri. She passed away in Harrisonville, MO on Monday, October 2, 2023. She was a member of Grand River Baptist Church in Harrisonville.

Susan's life centered around education. She attended Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, Mississippi and spent her senior year at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia as a Rotary Scholar. She earned a Master of Arts from the University of Mississippi and continued doctoral studies there in clinical psychology, completing an internship in clinical psychology at Kansas University Medical Center.

Enjoying a lifelong passion for the education of young children, she dedicated years of teaching to first grade students in Harrisonville, MO, retiring in 2008. Susan enjoyed reading, bible study, gardening, sewing and spending time with her golden retrievers.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Susan will be missed by the many friends, cousins, neighbors and students whose lives she inspired through her encouragement, positive attitude, smile, friendship, gentleness, kindness and caring.

Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 9, 2023 in Hazelwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Susan to your favorite charity.
