Mary Maxine Gaston Blount went to be with her Lord Monday afternoon August 22, 2011 at Cox Medical Center South. She was born August 15, 1923 in Springfield, Missouri and had recently celebrated her 88th birthday. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur E. Gaston and Mary Elmonte Helvey Gaston, her husband, Walter H. Blount, and her brothers, Arthur D. and Ralph E. Gaston. Maxine is survived by son, Ron Blount (Jean), San Antonio, TX; daughters, Janice (Jim) Brandenburgh, Nixa, and Marianna (Terry) Wise, Springfield; grandchildren, Betsy Blount, Katie Blount Sutton (Josh), Kari Dillon, Jane Viccellio (Adrian), Clay and Anna Bradenburgh, Brandon Wise, and Brooke Davis; great-grandchildren, Henry and Charlie Vicellio, and Sophia Sutton; also nieces, nephews and a host of dear family and friends. Maxine lived in Springfield her entire life, was a graduate of Central High Schooland attended State Teachers College. During WWII, she worked at O'Reilly Hospital. She and husband Walter were in the grocery business for many years. In her last years she resided at The Cambridge, where she had many special friends. She gave her heart to the Lord and was baptized at a very early age. And as a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, she served in many ministries and committees. Her Lord and her church were always first in her life and she never hesitated to share her faith. There will also be a celebration of Maxine's life Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church with visitation Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Donations may be made to First Baptist Church in Maxine's memory.
