Obituary

Mary Ann (Barno) Haggenmaker, 92, of Nassau Bay, TX passed away at 11:25 PM on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at The Manor at Elfindale in Springfield, MO where she was lovingly cared for since October 2021. She was a member of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church in Houston, TX prior to her move to Missouri. She retired from Real Estate at 85 years of age where she had been both agent and broker in the Nassau Bay area. Her careers included a BS in Nursing from Catholic University of America and a Master's in Public Health from the University of Houston. Mary Ann's nursing career began in Pediatrics and evolved into both public health and occupational health. She was part of NASA's Skylab Medical Team at Johnson Space Flight Center in 1974. Mary Ann joined the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Nursing at Galveston in the 1970s. Her interest in public health contributed to her involvement in the incorporation of the City of Nassau Bay, where she served as elected alderman and councilman from 1970 to 1976. She loved Nassau Bay and never intended to move away.

Born June 17, 1929 in San Bernardino, CA, she was preceded in death by her father; Paul Barno, mother; Mary M. (Schmittauer) Barno Kuehn, stepfather; Kurt Frank Kuehn and her friend and coworker in Real Estate; John Langford.

Mary Ann is survived by her sister; Claire Judith (Kuehn) Patterson-McKinley, niece; Teresa Ann (Patterson) Mayfield and husband Steve Mayfield, great nephew; Justin M. Bryant, all of Southwest MO,  great nephew Corey M. Bryant of Garden City, KS and friends in the Nassau Bay, TX area.

Funeral Mass will be said on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 10:00 AM in the chapel at St. Agnes Catholic Cathedral in Springfield, MO with Father Lewis E. Hejna officiating. Burial will be in Columbia Gardens Cemetery, Arlington, VA on February 25, 2022.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic University of America School of Nursing, Washington, D.C.
