Obituary

Mary Ann (Robertson) Gray, 84, passed away on April 15th at home surrounded by family. She was Born April 30, 1941to Walter Glenn Robertson and Roma Evangeline (McKibbin) Robertson in Kansas City, Missouri. Mary Ann graduated from Southwest High School then attended William Woods College, Baker University and Missouri State University. She achieved a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (81) and Social Work (87) than her Master of Science in Guidance and Counseling (90). In 1990 Mary Ann started working at the Springfield Regional Center than for The Next Step, a part of Abilities First, as a support coordinator. She was committed to improving the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. She made lifelong friendships

Mary Ann embodied the timeless spirit of the “Mother Figure,” devoting her life to the care and nurturing of her children. Her family extended far beyond blood, embracing all whom she chose to love as her own. She was a constant presence, offering wisdom, guidance, comfort, and unwavering support to anyone in need. Above all, Mary Ann sought only the very best for those she held dear.

Fiercely protective, Mary Ann stood as a steadfast guardian of her loved ones. She fought tirelessly for their well-being, and through her remarkable strength and determination, she often prevailed. Though she took pride in her victories, she shared them humbly, believing deeply that we are stronger together—that none of us is greater than all of us united.

Through her example, Mary Ann instilled in others the values of respect, kindness, and compassion. She taught that love sometimes required sacrifice or “tough love,” and with her wisdom, she guided others in understanding when each was needed.

Mary Ann’s impact on the lives she touched was profound and enduring. She inspired countless individuals to carry themselves with dignity and to treat others with care and respect. Without seeking recognition, she secured a lasting place in the hearts of many, where her memory and influence will continue to live on.

Preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Roma, sister Glenda Wancura, great-niece Brianna and son Robert (Bob) Gray.
