Obituary

Marvin E. Kolb passed on to his life in Christ on June 10, 2018 from the effects of Alzheimer's dementia.  He was born August 6, 1941 to Floyd and Ruth Kolb in Albuquerque, NM.  As a child, he moved a lot as his father was a Baptist preacher.

He joined the Army during the Vietnam War and served in military intelligence.  After he came back he got a BA in college and searched for his LIFE job.  After years of addiction, he found the 12 steps of recovery, and then found his calling to help other addicts.  He became a drug and alcohol counselor and spent years helping others to find recovery.  In October of 1987, he married the love of his life, Becky.

He returned to church to seek out the program Celebrate Recovery, a mixture of the 12 steps and the Lord of his life.  He was a member of East Sunshine Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Becky, Springfield, MO; two daughters, Christy, Ozark, MO; and Whitney, Norman, OK; one son, Josh, Joplin, MO; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren all were the light of his life.

A celebration of his life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2018 in East Sunshine Church of Christ, Springfield.  T-shirts and jeans would be Marvin's requested apparel.  We invite you to come and share your memories of Marv and how his life touched yours.

In lieu of flowers, we request a donation to The Marvin Kolb Memorial Fund at Central Bank or left with Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home or East Sunshine Church of Christ.  This will be used to continue his hearts love-to help those seeking recovery or needing help to continue recovery.

He died 33 years clean and sober.  Online condolences may be left at gormanscharpf.com.
