IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Martha
Redican
November 1, 1930 – January 11, 2026
Martha Stewart Redican, 95, passed away on Sunday, January 11th at her home in Springfield, Missouri. She was born on November 1, 1930 to Jesse and Lucille Stewart (Edmonson). She was a long-time member of Immaculate Conception Catholic parish where her faith and service was a very important part of her life. She was also active for many years with the Daughters of St Francis. She was a friend to many and will be deeply missed by those whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Redican, and by her eldest son, Joseph Redican (Kristi Nix-Redican). She is survived by her daughter, Martha Belveal, her daughter, Cecilia Richardson (Jim), and her son, Thomas Redican. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jim Richardson (Beth), David Redican, Sarah Richardson (Trey Arnold), Susan Redican (Brad McKellip), Lisa Daniels (Kurt), Emily Rogers (Kenneth Rogers), her great-granddaughter, Martha June Rogers, her sister, Betty Martens, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Martha graduated from Springfield Central High School in 1948 and then joined the Women's Army Corps (WAC) and was sent on her first assignment to Fort Dix, New Jersey. While there, she worked with and fell head over heels in love with a dashing warrant officer, Thomas Redican. They married and traveled the world, while welcoming four children. After the military, they retired to Springfield so that they could care for her elderly relatives, which they selflessly did. Tom had a second career as a regional marketing manager while Martha kept the home running with great efficiency and always on schedule. After raising her children, she then turned her hand to becoming the Best Nana Ever. Thomas passed away unexpectedly when she was just 64 and while she made the most of the next 31 years, it was clear that there was an empty place at her table. She will be much missed, but all are happy that she is reunited with the love of her life once again.
Martha's Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 31st at Immaculate Conception Church with the Reverend Nick Zummo celebrant under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will reunite her with her beloved husband in the National Cemetery on Monday, February 2nd at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, 3555 South Fremont Avenue, Springfield, MO 65804.
