Obituary

Martha Ann Hutchison of Springfield, Missouri passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015 at the age of 84 in Banner Heart Hospital, Mesa, Arizona.  She was born October 29, 1931 in Flat River, Missouri and was the daughter of Compton Thomas and Mary Ellen (Osman) Ward.
She graduated from high school in Crystal City, Missouri in 1949. She graduated from Southwest Baptist College in 1951 with her Associates degree and in 1978 she received her Bachelor's degree in Sociology. In the early fifties, Martha taught in a one room school house. In the early seventies, she taught English at Memorial Baptist School in Hampton Virginia. While attending Southwest Baptist College, she met Jack L. Hymer. In 1951, the two were married in Crystal City, MO. She spent 25 years as a pastor's wife, graciously serving churches in Texas, Missouri, Virginia, Perth and Sydney, Australia. From 1964 to 1969, Martha traveled with her family in to many countries in Asia, and islands throughout the Pacific. In 1977, Martha married Alden (Hutch) Hutchison. The two spent 24 wonderful years together until Hutch's passing in 2002. They were lovingly referred to by their grandchildren as Mema and Poppy. Martha was a loving and devoted homemaker, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her main focus was her family. For the grandchildren, it was always an adventure to go to Mema's house. There was never a hard bed or an empty plate. As they grew older, they shared many a secret with their buddy and confidante.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack L. Hymer and her second husband, Alden C. Hutchison.
Martha is survived by two sons, Mark Hymer and fiance Cathy Wagner; and Philip Hymer and wife, Cindy; two daughters, Jacqueline Bailey and husband, Robert; and Elizabeth Gioia and husband, John; one brother, Capt. (Ret) Compton Eugene Ward; two half-sisters, Betty Linderer and husband Don; and Karen Raines; nine grandchildren, Matthew Gioia; Camron Reimer; Karen Duree and husband Brandon; Jennifer Stuart and husband Chad; Michelle Brooks and husband Taylor; Aaron Hymer; Amber Bailey; Lindsay Papp and husband Greg; Alex Bailey; six great-grandchildren with two on the way, Bayleigh, Madison, Landon, Caden, Oliver, and James; and numerous nieces and nephews.
