Martha G. Brayfield became an angel on Sunday, May 5, 2013. She was a member of Pythian Avenue Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri. Martha was born October 28, 1922, in Galloway, Missouri and lived in Osage Beach, Missouri, for the past 20 years. "Mamaw" was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Samuel Bud' Brayfield, Sr. She is survived by her sister Bette Love of Parkville, Missouri, her daughter, Stephanie B. Sandven (West Fork, AR), her son, Samuel L. "Buddy" Brayfield, D.O. and daughter-in-law Colleen Brayfield (Linn Creek, MO), beloved grandchildren, Martha and Frankie Sandven (West Fork, AR); Jessica Hiestand and husband Kris Hiestand of Leawood, KS, Joel Brayfield (St. Charles, MO); Beau Brayfield (Linn Creek, MO); Alex Brayfield (Springfield, MO); and Seth Brayfield ( Linn Creek, MO.) , 3 great grandchildren, Adelaide Graves Hiestand, George Samuel Hiestand, and Selma Grace Sandven . Entertaining her family and friends brought her great joy throughout her life. She excelled in culinary arts, horticulture and as a superb seamstress. Her pies were featured at family gatherings and her teddy bears, quilts, flowers and garden delights will be forever cherished. Martha was employed at SW Bell and later by Lilly Tulip. The family extends gratitude to Dr. Grant Barnum, the excellent staff at Lake Regional Hospital, Ozark Rehabilitation and Health Care Center and Hospice Compassus. Memorial services will be held Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield, MO (www.gormanscharpf.com) (417-886-9994) with burial at Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Lake Springfield.
