Dr. Mark Stephen Stuppy, 65, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. Born on April 8, 1953 in Perryville, MO, the third of five children born to Francis and Edna (Mueller) Stuppy.

Mark graduated from Valle Catholic High School in Ste. Genevieve, MO and then attended college and medical school at MU in Columbia, MO, followed by an OB/GYN Residency at the University of Iowa in Iowa City.

After completing his residency, he relocated to Springfield, MO where he joined Cox Hospital and began his practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology. With a kind heart, gentle hands, and his legendary boots, he delivered over 4,000 babies. He loved his occupation as a physician and always treated his patients, co-workers and staff with utmost respect.

Mark was no stranger to the mountains of Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico as he was an avid hunter and enjoyed teaching others about hunting and hunting safety. He also enjoyed several trips to Alaska with his wife and children for salmon and halibut fishing. A favorite hobby was planting trees on his property and various areas around the community. He also enjoyed biking at Wilson's Creek National Battlefield.

Mark is the proud father of two children; a son Dr. Adam Joseph and daughter Erin Elizabeth. He enjoyed being involved in their school and sports activities and watching them become adults and begin their careers and families.

He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, where he and his wife attended mass regularly.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Kendra; son, Dr. Adam Stuppy (Gerri); daughter, Erin Wingbermuehle (Dominic); step-daughter, Jessica Watson (son Cole); sister, Dr. Mary Stuppy (Dean); brother, Dr. Denis "Deadeye" Stuppy; sister, Anne DePew (Ron); brother, Dr. Robert "Bobby Jo" Stuppy (Becky); and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 8, at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, Dr. Stuppy has requested that you please plant a tree, such as a white oak or burr oak, in an open area, or donations may be made to the Grey Matters Fund, which can be done by following the Grey Matters link on the CoxHealth Foundation website. Your donation will help many others dealing with brain cancer or traumatic brain injuries.
