IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mark
Pinkerton
July 18, 1949 – January 13, 2023
Warren Widmark Pinkerton, known as Mark to everyone, was born on July 18, 1949, in Tokyo, Japan to Curtis and Syble Pinkerton. He died on January 13, 2023, with the family he loved around him, and nothing left unsaid between them.
Growing up in a military family, Mark moved often but made friends everywhere because of his outgoing personality, quick wit, and welcoming nature. He arrived at the University of Missouri never having set foot on campus before and graduated in 1971 with a BA in Economics. Upon graduation, he became the youngest, at the time, to be hired by Baxter Travenol of Deerfield, IL. Though the recipient of numerous awards during his career, he was always more fulfilled by recognizing the accomplishments of his family. He met his wife, Sandy, at Mizzou on a blind date, resulting in 51 years of marriage where he always prioritized life's little and big moments with those he loved. His last joyous role in life was Papa.
Mark was a founding Board member of the Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Missouri and recently volunteered with OACAC's Poverty Project.
Mark was intellectually curious, and if you needed obsessive research on anything, he was your man. He loved to laugh, and he was an expert at teasing, a skill he lovingly shared with his sons who carry on the tradition. Mark was a 'people person' with a strong moral compass, and he was quick to recognize the difference between character and pretense. He was authentic and real, easy to get to know and easier still to like or admire.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Matthew Sloan Pinkerton. He is survived by his wife, Sandy, his sons Bart and Neal, and his grandson, Ty; siblings Peter and Penny Pinkerton, extended family, and his friend of more than 50 years, Larry Higginbotham.
At Mark's request no funeral is planned, but the family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm, Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home. Private family interment is scheduled for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mark's name to the Ronald McDonald House of the Ozarks Family Fund, in care of Bonnie Keller, 949 E. Primrose, Springfield, MO 65807 (online at www.RMHCozarks.org ), a charity that Mark and Sandy have supported for more than 40 years.
