Obituary

Mark Vincent Nelson, age 70, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away in his home, July 13, 2026. Mark was born May 3, 1956, in Springfield, Missouri, to Louis and Billie Nelson. He was a member of Crossway Baptist Church for 43 years.

Mark was a man who lived life to the fullest. He had a passion for fast cars. He was an exceptional welder for 25 years at Loren Cook. Mark embraced every adventure that came his way and never missed an opportunity to enjoy the people and experiences that he loved the most. His strong faith in God guided him throughout his life. That was reflected in his kindness, generosity, and the love he shared with everyone around him.

Above all else Mark cherished his family. His love, laughter, and eccentric quirky style brought joy to everyone around him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends and everyone who was blessed to know him.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Louis R. Nelson and Billie Ann Swenson.

He is survived by his son, James Nelson of Springfield, MO; his son-in-law, Adam Todd of Springfield, MO; his brother, David Nelson of Springfield, MO; and his nephew Robert Nelson of Shell Knob, MO.

Though he will be deeply missed, we can take comfort in remembering his favorite verse Psalm 23 and knowing that his faith sustained him. We know that he is rejoicing in the joys of heaven surrounded in love.
