Mark Eugene McGuire, 54, Rogersville, passed away early Monday, August 25, 2014 in his home. Mark was born in Springfield on February 13, 1960. He was a 1978 graduate of Greenwood High School, attended MSU and later Drury. He was a skilled woodworker and carpenter and had been associated with McGuire's Custom Floors for the past 24 years. Mark also served as a Deputy Sheriff in Christian County and was a member of the Stone County Special Response Team until an accident involving a fugitive left him partially disabled about seven years ago. He also became a self-employed gun dealer and gunsmith which evolved from his long time hobby. Mark was also affectionately known to many as "Butch" or "Mac". He was preceded in death by his step-father, Gene Johnson; father-in-law, William Floyd McLean; and maternal grandparents, O.E. and Arvella Golden. Mark is survived by his wife, Julie McLean McGuire; daughter, Kalie Ann McGuire; son, James William "J.W." McGuire; mother, Karan Johnson; father, Jim (Deb) McGuire; brother, Stuart Johnson; sister, Marcie McGuire; mother-in-law, Marilyn Ann McLean, and his wife's sister and her husband, Linda and Rick Whitman; nephews, Chad, Kole and Kasey. Memorial services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2014 in the Meditation Chapel of King's Way United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jon Spalding officiating, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Visitation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
