Obituary

Mark D. Hopkins departed this life on December 1, 2010. He was a lifelong Springfield resident. Mark was born on September 16, 1955 to the late Dr. John L. & the late Mrs. Martha Ann (Hawkins) Hopkins. Mark graduated from Parkview High School in 1973 and earned a BS in Agricultural Economics with an emphasis in Landscape design in 1982 from Southwest Missouri State University( Missouri State University.) He earned his Stock Brokers Licenses. He was employed as a Financial Counselor and a Stock Broker for 22 years at Edwards. He spent the last eight years as a Financial Estate Planner & Broker for JP Morgan and Merrill Lynch. He was a loving father and brother and leaves behind his daughter, Katherine (Katie); and a son, William (Billy) of the home. Mark is also survived by two brothers; John Hopkins and wife Shelly of Springfield, Mo., and Thomas Hopkins and wife Patricia of Lebanon, Mo.; two sisters, Dr. Sarah Hopkins and her husband Gerald W. Plaster both of Springfield, Mo., and Nancy Hopkins and husband Todd Young of Springfield, Mo. Also surviving is his stepmother Marilyn (Baldwin) Hopkins of Springfield, Mo., and her children of St. Louis, Mo., and Branson, Mo. Mark will be greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their spouses and children. A short service will be held in the Clark Chapel at James River Assembly on Thursday the 9th of December at 6 P.M. Immediately following will be a visitation in the Fireside Room at James River Assembly of God. The children have requested that donations be made to The Southwest Missouri Humane Society or the Charity of the donor's choice. Everyone will miss you "Tiger".
