Marjorie (Marge) Skordahl, 96, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on July 23, 2021, at Birch Pointe Health and Rehabilitation in Springfield.

Marge was born on March 9, 1925, on the family farm near Remsen, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred and Herlig (Mortensen) Lassen.  She grew up on the farm and graduated from the country school.  Her favorite childhood memories included playing house, making mudpies, and playing hide & go seek in the grove near the family farm.

While attending business college in Sioux City, Iowa, Marge met and later married Gordon Skordahl.  Her husband preceded her in death on July 24, 2017.

Marge was in many ways a pioneer for working women, working for Civil Service and earning promotions rarely obtained by women at that time.  Following Gordon's retirement from the Air Force, the couple owned and operated businesses in both Omaha, Nebraska, and Springfield.

While Marge was a sharp and accomplished businesswoman, her greatest pride was her family.  She was a devoted and loving mother to her daughter Charlotte (Skordahl) Headley and lovingly considered her son-in-law Charles Headley to be her own son.  While she traveled the country and the world throughout her life, her favorite place to travel was always home.  She loved visits from her family and was fiercely loving and protective of them.  She celebrated and took pride in her family's accomplishments and was their biggest supporter.

Marge is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Headley and husband Charles, of Springfield; two grandchildren, Michael Headley and his wife Jill, of Springfield; and Jennifer (Headley) Mueller and her husband Wayland of Springfield; and three great-grandchildren, Lauren Headley of Rogers, Arkansas; Thomas Headley, of Springfield; and Paige Mueller of Springfield.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Lassen, two sisters, Agnes Jorgensen and Esther Juhl, and one brother Ervin Lassen.

A private family graveside service will be held at Hazelwood Cemetery.
