Marjorie Martelli Pickett, age 62 of Ozark, passed away at 2:45 a.m., Wednesday August 4, 2010 in Springfield, Missouri, after a two year battle with ovarian cancer. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Dorthy Martelli of Wichita, Kan., and Dominic Martelli of Wichita, Kan. (formerly of Boston, Mass). Marge Pickett loved her church, River Bluff Fellowship in Ozark. She was the mother of two sons, Chris and Phil, and a wife of 41 years to Jim. She graduated with a Bachelor and Masters Degree in Music Education from Wichita State University. She taught music, and was an educational researcher for the Wichita Public Schools. She loved music, especially Christian Music, and lead adult choirs and congregations in Wichita Kansas, Wellington Kansas, Santa Cruz, Calif., Chadds Ford, Pa., and Springfield, Mo. She loved to travel, garden and sing. Above all she was a loving and gracious woman who loved her Lord, loved her family, and was her husband's best friend. She is survived by her husband, Jim Pickett of Ozark; two sons, Chris Pickett and Phil Pickett both of Ozark, Mo.; and a sister, Teresa Deering and husband of Wichita, Kan. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2010 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with the Reverend Scott Watson officiating. No visitation is scheduled, however friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. An accompanying service will be held in Wichita, Kansas at 3 p.m., Saturday, August 7, 2010 in Resthaven Mortuary Chapel, with graveside services following. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
