Marilyn Kay Cox of Springfield, MO passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016, after a short illness. Marilyn was 79 years of age.   She was born May 22, 1937 in Wichita, KS to Francis and Mary Elizabeth Cox. Marilyn was raised in Springfield, MO where she attended Greenwood Laboratory School.

After attending Drury University, Marilyn began her elementary teaching career at Mary Institute in St. Louis, MO and retired from teaching after many years with the Marshfield R-1 School District.

Marilyn was preceded in death by parents Francis E. Cox and Mary Elizabeth (DeLaMater) Cox of Springfield, MO, brothers Thomas Cox of Springfield, MO and Terry Cox of Columbia, MO. Survivors include sister-in-laws Anne M. Cox of Springfield and Jan Cox of Branson, MO. Marilyn was a special aunt to her 5 nephews, their spouses and children.

Marilyn was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Springfield, MO.   Services will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1551 E. Portland St., Springfield, MO.   In lieu of flowers, a tribute donation in Marilyn's honor is requested to the Medical Fund of the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri.   Donations can be made online at www.swh.org .
