Louella Marie Thompson, age 84, of Springfield, MO passed away at 9:05 a.m. on August 8, 2021. Marie was a member of Second Baptist Church in Springfield, MO.
She was born November 6, 1936, in Stone County, MO. Marie grew up in the Galena/Reeds Spring area. She went to Abesville Elementary and graduated from Reeds Spring High School. At the age of 14, she began working at Luvers Diner in Reeds Spring. After high school, she attended and graduated from Draughn Business College.
She met the love of her life in 1956 at the diner in Reeds Spring. Paul Leroy Thompson and Louella Marie Crume were united in marriage on June 7, 1958. They enjoyed working on their house together and being with family. On June 6, 1961, their daughter Cindy was born.
Marie was preceded in death by Paul in 1997 at age 65, her parents, Gertrude and Orville Crume, brother, Emmanuel Crume (at age 14), sister, Willadean, sister, Norma, and three brothers-in-law, Jimmie, George and Louis.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Helfer and her husband, Rob; grandchildren, Robert Arnold Helfer, Jr. and wife, Kelsey along with their daughter, Adilynn Marie, Matthew Paul Helfer, Gretchen Marie Krausch and her husband, Mark Krausch along with their children, Brody, Jameson and Aili Krausch, Heidi Lockhart and her husband, Logan Lockhart; sisters-in-law, Delores Thompson, Carolyn Thompson, Darlene Clark and Roberta Monday; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marie also has two additional great-grandsons on the way, one is September and one in October.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2021 in the sanctuary of Second Baptist Church at 3111 East Battlefield, Springfield, MO 65804, with the Reverend John Marshall and Reverend Jim Harriger officiating, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Homes of the Ozarks, c/o Freedom City Church, 1477 North Broadway, Springfield, MO 65802.
