Marie A. Newman, age 91, passed away June 10, 2012. She was born April 22, 1921 to Walter and Louisa Norris. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, sister Edna Norris, brother Robert Norris, and grandson Michael Newman. Surviving are her son Robert, daughter-in-law Carol, and niece Barbara Hunter. Marie will be remembered for her love of family, friends and neighbors. She spoke often of her love of dogs, especially the 3 little ones she enjoyed during her life - Ibby, BoBo, and Toby. She was a great cook, and loved to share her culinary skills with family and friends. Most believe there is a Wonderful Place we can look forward to someday, and Marie paid for a guaranteed ticket long ago. A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 14, 1:00 p.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. No formal viewing is scheduled, however, friends and relatives may visit the funeral home Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Staff at the Manor at Elfindale and Hospice Compassus provided excellent, kind care for Marie. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri or charity of choice.
