Marie McNay – 91 – of Springfield, Missouri, was born on September 10, 1924 in Quincy, Illinois, and passed away peacefully on May 4, 2016. Marie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She lost her husband Curt, over 36 years ago, and has dedicated her life to loving and caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband Curt McNay, parents William and Georgia Hoener, and brothers Bill Hoener and Merle Hoener. Surviving family members include sons Mark McNay (Jennifer), and Curt McNay, Jr.; grandchildren Lauren Sawyer (Blake), Molly Erickson (Trevor), Riley McNay, and Anna McNay; great-grandchildren Hazel Sawyer, and Sophia Sawyer; and several nieces and nephews.

Marie, affectionately known as "GG" to her great-grandchildren, spent her professional life with Great Southern Savings & Loan (Bank), and retired as the Personnel and Training Manager for the company. In retirement, she worked for family friends at Gordon's Jewelers. Her outgoing personality and concern for others was evident to all who knew and loved Marie.

Marie loved to travel with her friends, enjoying cruises to the Bahamas, and trips to Europe, Hawaii, and numerous other U.S. destinations. She loved to play bridge and truly loved her weekly games with her regular group. Marie's favorite pastime, however, was watching and rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Marie was a faithful member of Wesley United Methodist Church. The family would especially like to thank Mercy Hospice, and the entire staff at Mercy Villa for the care and compassion shown to Marie during her time there.

A graveside service is planned for Tuesday, May 10 at 1:00 p.m. at Springfield's National Cemetery. Following the service, there will be a Celebration of Life at Mark & Jenny's home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Mercy Villa – Springfield. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home – Springfield.
