Margaret Ann (Ellis) Hardin arrived on this earth June 25, 1931, the second daughter of Lee and Gladys Ellis. In the early morning hours of July 24, 2011, she slipped quietly away in her sleep at the age of 80. Margaret was born in the small town of Paris, TX and relocated to Springfield, MO as a young child with her family. She attended Lincoln School where she formed many life-long friendships and also met her husband, Floyd Harold Hardin, Sr. This union was blessed with the births of four children: Floyd Jr., Mary, Kim and Charlotte. As an adult, Margaret continued her formal education by attending Southwest Missouri State College (now Missouri State University). Margaret was fiercely proud of her family and always kept them first in her life. A close second was her love for God and her church, Pitts Chapel United Methodist, where she was a faithful and active member for over 60 years. Margaret also had a long and successful work history beginning as a young teen. Her experiences ranged from catering to banking to retirement from General Electric Corporation in 1992. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents: Lee and Gladys Ellis; her sister: Ruby D. Faulkner; and son-in-law: Carlos S. Jones. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband: Floyd H. Hardin Sr., son: Floyd H. Hardin, Jr. and wife Karen, Chandler, AZ; daughters: Mary Phillips, Kimberly Jones and Charlotte Hardin, all of Springfield; five grandchildren: Leslie, Jeffrey, Floyd III, Ashley and Steven; and five great-grand children: Bria, Bradley, DJ, Javien and Jonas. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including special friends Clarence Phillips and Clara Patterson. Visitation will be held Friday, July 29, 2011, 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 30, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at Pitts Chapel United Methodist Church, 600 N. Benton.
