September 2, 2017 Saturday afternoon we lost one of the most beautiful and gracious women in Springfield Marcia Travers Bennett. The mother of four beautiful girls and the grandmother of nine wonderful grandkids and the sister of seven little brothers! Marcia was a loving and caring woman to so many children throughout her life.
We will miss her sooo Much, she is going to a very special place, she has had dementia for quite some time and is now free. We love you Marcia and will miss your smile and beautiful blue eyes.
She graduated from Parkview High School in 1963. She received a B.S. In English Education from SMS and a Master's in Counseling from the University of Missouri. She was employed in several area school districts in Springfield and Bolivar. She was a tireless Special Needs teacher and founded the Visually Impaired Program.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Jack Bennett.
She is survived by her daughters Laurie Allegretti (Tony) Sante Fe, NM, Angel Nahon (Paul Jr.) Springfield, MO, Suzanne Kelly Springfield, MO, Monica Gilardi (Nicola) Springfield, MO. Along with seven brothers, Robin Travers (Gergana) Brevard, NC, Kim Travers (Kathy) Springfield, MO, Tom Travers (Wendy) Sydney, Australia, Troy Travers (Cindy) Fairfield Iowa, Stan Travers (Lisa) Springfield, MO, Ted Travers (Linda) Saluda, NC, Richard Travers (Cathy) Pickens, SC, and nine wonderful grandchildren, John Robert Reynolds Jr, Nicola Jr and Tomaso Gilardi, Brendan and Caitlyn Kelly, Paul III and John Nahon, Danny and Anna Allegretti.
Committal service will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, may be made to the Paul G. Nahon III Memorial Fund at Community Foundation of the Ozarks, 425 E. Trafficway St, Springfield, MO 65806. Online condolences can be made at www.gormanscharpf.com
