Obituary

Maj. Calvin W. Nossaman, age 92, of Springfield passed away on May 18, 2016. Born in Wichita, KS on September 3, 1923 and adopted by Dr. Silas and Jessie Doty Nossaman of Cunningham, KS where he grew up. He attended KU in Lawrence, KS where he met Barbara Jehle, and they married in 1949.

Calvin enlisted in the US Army in 1950 and served for 23 years. He is a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. Calvin was employed at Kraft Foods in Springfield as a chemist, retiring in 1988.

During his lifetime, he and Barbara enjoyed many trips abroad, pursuing understanding of cultures, humanities, and the arts. Mr. Nossaman supported numerous local and national charities throughout his lifetime.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Calvin is survived by three daughters, Terre Nossaman, Springfield, Casey Johnson, Syracuse, MO and Enid Nossaman, Springfield; three grandchildren, Shawn Frerking, Springfield, Chris Czech, Kansas City and Laura Seidl, Lincoln, MO; three great-grandchildren, Mackenna and Zoey Frerking, Springfield and Addison Seidl, Lincoln, MO.

Private family services will be held May 24, 2016 under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ozarks Food Harvest.
