Mae Etta Correll, age 96, passed away April 6, 2026, at home with her family beside her.

Born in London, Kentucky, she later moved to Ohio, where she met and married Larry in 1947.

After moving to Springfield, Mae Etta worked as a secretary for Campbell 66, leaving to start their family. After all her children entered school, she began working for Mutual of Omaha, where she remained until taking an early retirement. Larry had already retired, so they traveled extensively, visiting all 50 states. They were wanderers before cell phones or GPS and enjoyed many adventures during their 68-year marriage.

Mae Etta had many talents, which included sewing clothes, flower gardening, cooking and canning vegetables from the garden, and wood carving. One of her specialties was decorating her home and baking cookies for Christmas. She loved making holiday cookie trays for friends and family.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is preceded in death by her husband, Larry, her parents and two sisters, Mary Rose Barnes and Pauline Patton.

She is survived by her sister Geraldine House; children Lanny (Ruth), Pat Cross, Danny (Diane), Dennis (Deb), and Cheryl (Ulysses); grandchildren Courtney Stokes, Leslie (Dale), Hannah (Saul), and Brian; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

The Correll family would like to thank long-time care givers Marcia, Stephanie and Brittany along with the staff at Haven Home Health and Hospice.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 12, 2026 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Monday, April 13 at 10:30 AM, also at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Donations may be made to Crosslines of Springfield in lieu of flowers.
