Obituary

Mabel Lelah Misemer, 98, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 19, 2010, in an assisted living care facility in Leavenworth, Kansas. She was born January 5, 1912 in Lawrence County, Mo., to Mary May Mason Hadlock and George Herbert Hadlock. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 72 years, Millard C. Misemer; one sister, Bonnie; and brothers, John and Herbert. She leaves behind three children, Gerald D. (Mary) of Arizona, Kenneth R. (Abby) of Florida, Kathy S. Holt (JIm) of Kansas and a sister, Rosa May Berry of California; plus eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mabel loved quilting and as part of her legacy, she has given at least two beautiful handmade quilts to each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her quilts will provide memories and comfort in the future. She also loved reading, especially poetry. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. A memorial service for Mabel will be held in the future. Memorial contributions can be made to Misemer Cemetery or Vitas Hospice Care in care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, Springfield, Missouri.
