Obituary

Mabel Louella Johnson was born in Greene County on December 7, 1917, and died at her home in Dallas, Texas, on April 10, 2010. Her parents were Leonard B. and Carrie Roberts Moses, who predeceased her, as did her brothers Clyde, Lawrence, Raymond, and Vernon Moses, and sister, Lodine Dunn. She attended school at Mt. Pisgah near Pearson Creek. She was married to Glen W. Johnson for 64 years until his death in 2002. They owned and operated Paramount Motor Lodge in Branson until 1971, when they retired. Thereafter, they traveled the world together and maintained a winter home in the Rio Grande Valley. She resided in Springfield from 1988 until 2003, when she moved to Dallas to be near her daughter, Glenda Kemple and husband Michael Whidden, both of whom survive. In addition, she is survived by her son, Kenneth W. Johnson and wife Sharon, grandson Jason W. Johnson and wife Karen, two great-grandchildren, Tyler Johnson and Carson Johnson, all of Springfield. An accomplished golfer, she accumulated many trophies from the Golf Ranch in Branson during the Sixties, and continued to actively enjoy the game at Twin Oaks in Springfield until her vision failed. She was a crackerjack bridge player who loved a good game of cards, a party, and a big laugh. The family will have a private service on Wednesday April 21st . She will be buried beside Dad in Eastlawn Cemetery. All friends are invited to a visitation and a glass of wine at Twin Oaks Country Club on the evening of Wednesday, April 21st from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
