Myron "Dennis" Johnson, 60 passed away at 5:45 pm Friday, January 18, 2019 in Cox Hospital South from a heart attack.

He was a member of Ozark Empire Kiawanis where he played a major role in putting shoes on kids who were in need.  He made friends with those kids and made trying on shoes a fun experience.

Dennis attended CBC and MSU and graduated with a BS in Accounting and received a Masters in teaching.  He worked at Ellis Trucking as a controller then at Cox HealthCare as an accountant, and taught in the Bootheel for a short time.  He also ran his own janitorial business for 35 years.

He was an adventurer and loved riding his bike, he had a great sense of humor and loved cheesy jokes.  Two of his favorite guys to hang with were Ryder Williams and Eric Johnson.  He was always there for anyone in need… needed help moving, someone to listen or just be a good friend.  He loved to have a great conversation or debate, the kind of conversation that made you think. He believed in standing up for the right thing, always!

You could always count on a big hug from Dennis! You could also count on receiving socks and underwear for Christmas from him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Myron Owen Johnson and a sister, Rebecca Joyce Johnson Gluck.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila M. Johnson of the home; his mother, Polly Joyce Johnson of Winfield, MO; a sister, Terry Doolan of New Orleans, LA; a brother, Jim Johnson of Winfield, MO; a sister, Judy Johnson of Mundelein, IL; six nieces, three nephews, five great-nephews and two great-nieces; numerous aunts and uncles; his father-in-law, David Tapp; mother-in-law, Fern Murray; sisters-in-law, Sherry Brock, Shelly Copeland and Jennifer Posey.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 7PM in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:30 PM til service time.
