Obituary

Juanita was born in rural Missouri in 1929. The oldest of four siblings, she worked her whole life to support her family. She had a daughter, Catherine, with her first husband, Herb Hyde, in 1947. They lived in several places throughout the Midwest, including Springfield.

Juanita moved back to Springfield after her first husband's death in 1969. She started working for Bell Telephone and later worked at the headquarters of the Assemblies of God. She spent 50 years working at Assemblies in their Asia Pacific office. Juanita helped make travel arrangements for missionaries all over the world.

Juanita met her second husband, Carl Evans, and married in 1971. The next year her granddaughter, Cheyenne was born. Juanita and Carl were married until his death in 1996.

Juanita's best years were spent on her two favorite activities: being involved in her church, and travelling around the world with her husband, Carl, and later her granddaughter, Cheyenne. Juanita was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Springfield. She taught Sunday School classes there for many years, and was seen attending many activities throughout the year.

Juanita and her husband Carl visited over 50 countries in their time together. They often went to countries where Juanita knew missionaries from her work with Assemblies of God. But Juanita also travelled by herself. Most notably, she took a trip to the Middle East in the 1960s by herself when it was unheard of for Western women to be seen there on their own. Later Juanita took 10 trips with her granddaughter Cheyenne, including a trip to Machu Picchu for her 80 th birthday.

Juanita is survived by her granddaughter Cheyenne, her sister June, her niece Jana, and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services celebrating Juanita's life were held at First Baptist Church and a private family burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.
