Obituary

Lyndon Leonard Hebner passed away on July 11, 2015, at Republic Nursing & Rehab in Republic, Missouri at the age of 81 years and 5 months. He was born on February 11, 1934, in Amboy, Illinois, to Jacob Robert and Edna Mae (Lengel) Hebner. Lyn married Nancy Lou Slentz on April 3, 1954, in Rockford, Illinois, and they celebrated 56 years together before her death in 2010. Lyn was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two brothers, Paul and Arthur; and one sister, Elsie. He is survived by his daughter, Kim Hebner of Springfield, with whom he resided for the last 7 years. Lyn is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Jackie Hebner and Linda Slentz; six nephews and their wives, Allyn and Pat Hebner, Paul D. and Lisa Hebner, Bob and Cindy Slentz, Billy Slentz, Darl and Debbie Slentz, Jon (Bo) and Esther Slentz; one niece, Gayle Hebner; four great nephews, Alexander Hebner, Rob Slentz and wife Verlonda, Darl (Shorty) Slentz, Jr. and Jon Slentz; seven great nieces, Gwendolyn Hebner, Rebecca Hebner, Gillian Hebner, Nicole (Niki) Hamilton and husband, Jason, Elizabeth (Lizzy) Slentz, Lenna Marie Bohmont and husband, Dusty, and Deanna Slentz; and several great, great nieces and nephews who were very special to him. Lyn will also be greatly missed by his faithful canine companion, Candie, who was such a comfort to him. Lyn was saved at the age of fourteen and was a member of Baptist Temple in Springfield. He was a distributor for Paymaster Checkwriters, Inc. of Chicago, Illinois for forty years. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on July 14, 2015, at Wise Hill Cemetery, Clever, Missouri. Visitation will be held in the Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield, Missouri on July 13, 2015, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Wise Hill Cemetery, c/o James Smith, 602 East Miller Road, Republic, MO 65738 or The Gideons International, Springfield South Camp, PO Box 4421, Springfield, MO 65808.
