Obituary

Lucille Burk passed away at her home in Springfield, Missouri on Monday, June 18, 2018 at the age of 91.  Lucille was born in Ava, Missouri on June 19, 1927 to Henry and Helen Dye.  On October 28, 1946 she and Leo Burk were married in a simple ceremony in Ava – beginning 72 years of devotion, faithfulness and love for one another.  Lucille spoke of their marriage as "the greatest love story ever".

Lucille accepted, loved and served the Lord Jesus Christ and was a member of Schweitzer United Methodist Church.

She was truly a virtuous woman (Proverbs 31) – caring for her husband, home and others.  She made her house a home – beautifully decorated and everything attended to.  Lucille had many talents, including painting, knitting, etching, cooking and tending her flowers.  Her greatest joy was using these talents to give to others.

Lucille held the position of Operations Officer with Union National Bank, which later became Boatmen's Bank, for forty years.  She was a true professional in every way – kind, responsible, poised and never known to speak a cross word.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents and brothers; Harold and Gordon.

She is survived by her husband, Leo and special family and friends: Cleo Huffman and daughters, Cindy and Sherri and their families; Charles and Kathy Taber; Doug, Betsy and Anna Earls; Tina and Captain Sibley; Dan and Sheila Middleton and children Misty, Ty, Sarah, Katie and Mikel and their families; Earl and Dixie Benton.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 20, 2018 in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
