Obituary

Loyd Arthur Morlan, 82, Springfield, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012 in his home. He was born July 7, 1930 in Scranton, Iowa, the son of Delmer and Iva Morlan. Loyd served in Germany and Korea in the US Army. He was a bookkeeper for 28 years for Gilcrest Jewett Lumber Company, 4 years for Midwest Cement Company and 2 years at Perfection Learning. He was a Cub Scout Leader for 10 years and enjoyed square dancing. He was preceded in death by a son, William Curtis. Loyd is survived by his wife, Janise Morlan; five sons, Timothy (Ellen) Morlan, Thomas (Winnie) Curtis, Michael (Lisa) Morlan, Kevin (Aimee) Morlan and Richard Curtis; four daughters, Terri (JR) Avery, JoAnn (Tom) Beougher, Shelly (Bobby) Fausett and Nancy (Dirk) VerSteeg; a sister, Shirley Powers; thirty five grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2012 in Asbury United Methodist Church under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time Thursday in the church. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2012 in Grandview Park Funeral Home, 3211 Hubbell, Des Moines, Iowa, with services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Scranton Cemetery, Scranton, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, 1500 South Campbell Avenue, Springfield, MO 65807or Integrity Hospice, 2960 North Eastgate Avenue, Springfield, MO 65803.
