IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lowell R.
Miller
December 20, 1941 – February 6, 2025
Lowell Ray Miller, 83 years old, passed away on February 6, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Lowell was born in Odessa, Texas in 1941 to Horace and Bernice Miller. He was a graduate of Odessa High School, North Texas State University, and the University of Missouri. He worked in the oilfields of west Texas for Texaco as a young man, then General Dynamics in Fort Worth. After a move to Springfield, Missouri, Lowell spent many years as a professor of Industrial Education at then Southwest Missouri State University.
Lowell founded Polyfab Plastics & Supply, Inc. in 1972. He worked hard to build his family-owned, local business, and was proud of its contribution to local manufacturing.
Lowell met the love of his life, Kay, in Odessa, Texas. They were married in 1964 in Crosbyton, Texas in the First Baptist Church. They had three sons: Mark, Todd, and Mike. They raised their sons in Springfield, Missouri. Lowell spent countless hours on basketball bleachers cheering on his sons, and making memories each weekend with his family at the lake.
Lowell had a passion for building and tinkering, which he showcased by constructing three houses at Table Rock Lake. He also loved fishing and hunting with the boys. A classic car enthusiast, he took particular pride in his '57 Chevrolet and '62 Corvette, enjoying both working on them and taking them for drives.
Lowell is survived by his beloved wife, Kay Miller, and his sons: Mark and his wife, Natalie; Todd and his wife, Gina; and Mike and his wife, Mary. He was a devoted grandfather to seven grandchildren—Logan, Landrey, Brandt, Nathan, Elizabeth, Jack, and Kate. He is also survived by his sister, Peggy Smith; his brother, Harvey Miller, and Harvey's wife, Gail; as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his twin daughters, Sharon Kay and Karen Renee, his parents Horace and Bernice, and his brother Jimmy.
There will be a visitation at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home on Thursday, February 13 from 4:00-6:00 and a Celebration of Life afterward at Hickory Hills Country Club from 6:30-9:00. Donations can be made in Lowell's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
The Miller family would like to thank the staff of the Memory Care Unit at The Manor at Elfindale, as well as the many wonderful nurses from Integrity Hospice.
