Obituary

Lowell Kennemer, 84, Springfield, MO passed away at 9:51 a.m. Sunday, February 10, 2019 in his home.  He was born September 9, 1934 in Springfield, MO.  He was married right out of high school in 1952 to Betty Jo Buckner.  He served in the Army for two years from 1957-1959.  His love for woodworking led him to open his own cabinet business, Custom Woodworks, which they had for 15 years.  He and Betty ran the business together, as they were a team.  They then opened a second business building cabinet doors, KD Products, and were in business for an additional 17 years.  In his spare time, he enjoyed riding dirt bikes, going fishing, hunting and was in a Model T group.  He and Betty used to go target shooting in their free time.  They did everything together.  Their most favorite thing was going to their lake cabin almost every weekend.  After retirement, he started playing pool at the senior center and with friends at the lake.  He had a shop that he worked in almost daily, and at age 80, started making pool cues and perfected them and made them for his friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Gladys Kennemer; brother, Jack Gene Kennemer; sister, Betty Polodna; and a son, Jack Kennemer.

Lowell is survived by his wife, Betty Kennemer, Springfield; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Wayne Thompson, Strafford; three grandchildren, Kylie, Nathan and Natalie Thompson, all of Strafford; brother, Charles Kennemer, Buena Park, CA; and a sister, Nancy Fisher, Mt. Holly, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2019 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery.
