IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louise
Newton
June 18, 1934 – November 19, 2025
Louise Waldrip Newton passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025, at 11:15 a.m. with the love of her life, Charles Delbert holding her hand and her family by her side, at The Gardens Memory Care Center. Louise was born June 18, 1934, in Chanute, KS to Rolla and Mildred Waldrip. She graduated high school from Chanute Senior High in 1952. Louise met the love of her life at the Chanute drive-in, and they married on October 3, 1952.
Louise spent the last sixty years with her husband Charles Delbert in Springfield, MO raising their family, where she retired from St. John's Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Louise is survived by her husband of 73 years, Charles Delbert Newton; brother, Jerry Waldrip and wife Merry of Kansas City, MO; daughter, Pamela Lynn Newton; son, Charles David Newton and wife Julie Newton, who gave Louise the nickname "Pretty."
Louise adored her grandchildren, Kristin Michelle Forster of Nixa, MO, David Kendall Newton and wife Nikki of Jefferson City, MO and her great-grandchildren, Arianna and Patience Forster, Kohen, Asher, Elsie, Bear and Titus Charles Newton. All her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were with Louise in her last days.
Louise loved traveling with her husband, friends, and family; playing cards, reading, crossword puzzles, Santa Claus, her church (Southminster Presbyterian), and she loved Kansas Chiefs football!
Our family would like to thank The Gardens Memory Care Unit for all the love, kindness, and care they have given our mom and dad over this last year. We know they have grown to love them both deeply and called them their "Hallmark Couple." Also, we would like to thank St. Croix Hospice – all of you have blessed our lives.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Convoy of Hope.
A Memorial Service to honor the lives of both Charles and Louise will be on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 10:00 AM, with Visitation from 9:00 - 10:00 AM, at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
