Obituary

Louanna Suttee Sarver, 86, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2009, after courageously battling a long illness. Born on October 25, 1922 in South Greenfield, Mo., Louanna was the daughter of Homer and Myrtle Batten. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Louanna was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Howard Suttee Jr.; and her second husband, Donald H. Sarver. Also preceding her were two sisters, Evelyn Shaw and Vesta Brake; two brothers, Wesley Batten and James Batten. She is survived by her sister, Nadine Hughes and her husband, Dwain, of South Greenfield; her brother, John Batten and his wife, Marilyn, of Sullivan. Louanna is also survived by her two daughters, Karen Kay Adams of Springfield, Linda Dianne Smith and her husband, Donald R. Smith, of College Station, Texas; son-in-law, Jerry Dale Adams; sister-in-law, Marjorie Batten of Springfield; Stepsons, Donald W. Sarver and wife, Wanda of Rockwell, Texas; Daniel C. Sarver, of Plano, Texas; her grandchildren, Michael Adams and wife, Denise of Pflugerville, Texas; Kimberly Baker of Houston, Texas; Brett Adams adn wife, Rene of Ozark; Felicia McKinney and husband, Charles of Cypress, Texas; and Whitney Irving and husband, Glen of Katy, Texas.; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, host of friends and her special tennis ball chasing friend, J-Lo. Louanna was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She loved to bowl, go fishing and was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Missouri Tigers and Missouri State. She retired from the Frito-Lay Co. in 1984 and spent the next 15 years visiting family and friends with Donald, before his death in 2001. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, February 23, 2009, in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with Pastor Daniel Friberg officiating. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held February 22, 2009 from noon to 2 p.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel, 1947 E. Seminole, Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, 925 E. Seminole, Springfield, MO 65807 or Oxford HealthCare Hospice, 3525 S. National, Suite 204, Springfield, MO 65807.
