Lou Whitney passed away at home on October 7th, 2014 at the age of 71 surrounded by family and loved ones. Lou was born January 11th, 1943 in Phoenix Arizona to parents Harold and Helen Whitney. He married his loving wife and friend, Kay "hunny-bunny" Whitney on May 13th 1991. Lou spent the last 40 years as a Springfield resident where he met numerous friends and colleagues with whom he created many wonderful memories with. His many achievements include owning a local recording studio where he produced and engineered musical acts, mentored many young musicians, and created life-long relationships with the bandmates he loved so much. In addition to his many talents, Lou will also be remembered for being a loving husband, beloved patriarch, and loyal friend. Lou is survived by: his wife Kay, daughter Cynthia Crawford, and sons Jody Guy Cottengim and Stoney Lee Cottengim. He has seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren: Isaiah, Seth, Colin, Hannah, Kaylah, Baylee, Sydney, Rylan, Chandler, and Zaiden as well as a brother Mike Whitney and sister Carla Brownlee. There will be no memorial as requested by Lou. We will celebrate his Rock-N-Roll legacy on: November 9th, 2014 at the Savoy Ballroom from 5-9 pm, 224 E. Commercial Street Springfield Mo, 65802. In lieu of flowers Lou asked that donations be made to Dr. John Bentley-Jordan Valley Park Health Clinic Fund, 440 E. Tampa Street Springfield MO 65806.
