With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Lori K McKenzie,63 of Springfield, Mo. Lori dedicated her life to the betterment of others as a devoted social worker. Lori departed from us on March 26,2024, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, kindness, and tireless service to those in need.
Born on November 15, 1960, to Henry L. Myers and Angelina Myers (Moreno.) She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lucy Myers Gaines, and her nephew San Martinez Jr.
Lori's journey was one of selflessness and empathy. From a young age, she exhibited a deep-seated desire to make a positive impact on the lives of those around her. This innate compassion guided her towards a career in social work, where she flourished and touched countless hearts with her unwavering dedication.
Lori attended Glendale High School in Springfield, then went on to Graduate from Southwest Baptist University. Throughout her career, Lori's work ethic was unmatched. She tirelessly advocated for the marginalized, the vulnerable, and the voiceless, ensuring that they were heard, understood, and supported. Her empathy knew no bounds, and she approached everyone with genuine care and respect, leaving an indelible mark on the communities she served which included individuals from San Antonio Texas to Grand Canyon University.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Lori cherished time spent with her loved ones. She lovingly leaves behind her daughter, Sarah Leslie McKenzie, Springfield, Mo. Brothers Henry D Myers, of Springfield, Mo, David Myers (Gail), of Strafford, Mo, Harland Myers (Terri), of Springfield, Mo, and her sister Linda Meyer (Philip.) She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nephews, great nieces, great great nephews, a great great niece, the father of her daughter Dennis McKenzie, and many other friends and family that loved her. Her laughter was infectious, her smile illuminated the room, and her presence brought comfort and joy to those around her.
Lori had a lifetime friend and Mentor, Linda Sisco for 47 years. Linda was instrumental in helping Lori become the strong and independent woman she was. Linda continued to motivate Lori to her full potential.
Though Lori's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her legacy of kindness, compassion, and selflessness will inspire us all to strive for a better, more empathetic world.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the donor's choice in Lori's honor.
Though we mourn her loss, we take solace in knowing that Lori's legacy will endure as a beacon of hope and compassion for generations to come. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing that her life was a testament to the transformative power of love and empathy. As she now walks with the lord Jesus Christ.
